The Thinker’s Call: Waking Up in a Sleeping World
How an ancient figurine can remind us to pause, reclaim our instincts, and question the systems shaping our lives.
From time to time, you need to take a step back, find a rock, and simply sit—just like the “Thinker from Hamangia.” Just sit. Try to connect with the voice inside you—the one that doesn’t need to read a book to know how to screw in a lightbulb, doesn’t need to be told to be compassionate, doesn’t need instructions on which detergent or pan to use, which gadget is essential, or where to go to feel like a superstar in a plastic world with a plastic grin. The one that doesn’t need guidance on how to change the bedsheets or kill some bugs.
If you haven’t been fully parasitized yet, you may realize how much you’ve been made dumber and more dependent—told what to think, how to think, what to fear, and what to trust.
Sit. Knock gently on your skin with your right hand and ask: “Are you still there?” That simple gesture of asking could awaken the essence of you—the you that hasn’t been infected by so-called modern ways. Behind the shiny surface, there’s a mycelium network spreading, surrounding you like a parasite, annihilating your instincts, keeping you trapped, asleep, conquered—drinking to oblivion, screaming at massive concerts, running marathons, staying endlessly busy with things that don’t matter.
Meanwhile, the real things are happening:
Your food is poisoned.
People’s rights to grow their own food are restricted.
Seeds are tampered with more and more.
People are not allowed to sell the seeds they save.
You must register the animals in your house and garden—even chickens.
You are deliberately made ill to support the growth of the pharma industry.
You are exhausted by repetitive, mindless work that benefits only a minority.
People’s movement is restricted.
Self-sufficiency is discouraged.
People are brainwashed to fear the environment.
Foraging and learning how to feed and heal yourself are discouraged.
So-called sustainability solutions like wind farms and solar panels damage the soil, flora, and fauna, harming Mother Nature.
You are made ill by the same system that then sells you the “solutions.” If you don’t stop to think about what is happening to you… well, you are being abused. It’s an intellectual abuse—tailored each time to the “new you,” reshaped by the system and adjusted by the constant flow of information you allow to be harvested through your fancy phones, watches, and social media interactions. You don’t even know where you’re going, yet you are already marching down a narrow road—just like cattle being led to be milked.
What can you do first? Find a rock. Sit. Ask yourself: what power can I take back right now? Maybe it’s learning to identify just one edible plant in your area. Maybe it’s asking yourself why you are doing what you are doing. Why are you watching endless TV? What else could you do instead?
What is the Thinker of Hamangia all about?
Probably if I would not have been Romanian this image would not have come on my radar although hmmm maybe it would have given my interest in paleolitic and neolithic cultures. So here we go. The Thinker of Hamangia is one of the oldest known sculptures of a seated human figure, discovered in 1956 near the town of Cernavodă, in Dobrogea, southeastern Romania, during archaeological excavations of a Neolithic Hamangia culture cemetery. So just imagine it dates around 5000–4600 BCE. This small clay figurine depicts a person sitting on a low stool, elbows resting on knees, with their chin in their hands. Is he thinking? Contemplating? Who knows? A simple yet evocative posture trying to wake us ups so many thousands years later.
We will explore this more in future blogs, but I’d love to hear your thoughts as well.
