Journaling. A word which means many things for many people. For some is a brain dump when life is overwhelming, for others is a celebration when life is good, for others is a way to record memories, or write quotes that mean something to them, or draw, or paint or do collages. Journalling is not only about words but about imagery and symbols. Symbols that matter to us. Moments that matter to us. Or experiences we want to forget about, or understand better or simply words we would like to say to somebody but cannot. Journaling is a dialogue sometimes. It is a dialogue with ourselves, with our guides, the higher power, our loved ones who are not in their physical body anymore, our pets, ancient people, ancestors and maybe more.
Journaling for the writers is a way to develop a scene or character, to record a moment from the real life that one wants to work on in a novel or article or short story.
Journaling can be a collection of words one loves or recipes one would like to cook or places one would like to visit or plants one would like to know more about or simply a place to record your dreams, aims, goals, exercise targets.
But coming back to a brain dump - it can definitely be the place where at the end of the day one can grab a cup of tea, coffee or a glass of wine and write about the experiences one went through in the office. It is an ideal moment to finish the unfinished conversations, tell some people what you really think about them, close the circles, let go if you can let go, turn the page and move on.
